Upon the successful completion of this course, students will be able to name, ask for and find common products that are on sale at a grocery store. By using simple routines in a familiar situation, students will learn how to greet and say goodbye, ask for and give directions, and ask for products. By inferring meaning from context and using interactive exercises to confirm understanding, students will practice listening skills and respond to simple instructions and requests for information based on the topic. Students will be able to understand the information and instructions found on basic advertisements. Students will be able to complete written exercises that describe the products they need to purchase, different types of food, and their location. Contrasting the written and oral form of the vocabulary used in grocery stores, students will be able to recognize the terms and use them with ease in exercises. Students will complete pronunciation exercises and monitor their progress, which will encourage reflection and self-assessment.
